She is SASSY!

A few days ago I caught Kate with her favorite thing: a cord. Dangerous, right?
I looked at her sternly and said, "Baby, no no no no NO!"
And she looked right back at me with (I swear) the same expression, and said, Na na na na na NA!"
I tired to keep a straight face as I took the cord away and she screamed and burst into tears.
She was clearly mad at me after our first fight. 45 seconds later she remembered we were best friends, and everything has been happy since.

Lunch Date

Kate and I just got back from a lunch date with our favorite boy. We learned that Kate can now drink from a straw, and LOVES Diet Coke. Ut Oh! Her facial expression was priceless when she got that first sip of carbonation.
We were sitting on a bench next to a planter, and while Matt and I were flirting, (and not watching our daughter as closely as we should have) she decided to put a whole handful of dirt in her mouth. It was one of those slow motion moments. I looked over just as her chubby hand released the filth in her clean little mouth. Her expression this time, we even better. Matt and I couldn't stop laughing as we tried to get it all out.
What's better than Diet Coke, to wash down the remaining dirt?
It is days like this I hope I won't forget about.

hot hot weather. kate loved the pool! (i had just gotten in...tiny bit chilly.)

target to look at car seats, pick up some new "nummies" (binkies), and a ride on dad's shoulders.my sister's family surprised us at church to listen to our dad speak. we spent the afternoon in the backyard, playing ping pong, playing on the rope swing, and drinking orange julious. does it get any better?
and matt and I even got to sneak out for a romantic dinner one night! i would like to repeat that weekend every week.

11 months

Where has the time gone?

Our Kate bug is more and more fun each day.
I remember when she was a few weeks old thinking that it couldn't get any better than cuddling your tiny new baby and I wanted to freeze time.
I can honestly say that we have enjoyed each stage with our Kate.
She is still not full on crawling yet, but army crawls all around.
She is obsessed with holding our hands, and walking all over the place. She is the most happy on her feet, visiting grandpa in his office, or searching for the dogs.
She is picking up sign language really well. She signs "mama" and "milk" on command (if she is in the mood for tricks).
She loves being around other kids; I think she will be a good friend.

Favorite person: Mama and Dada
Favorite toy: the entertainment center doors and dvd player
Favorite shows: Handy Manny, Baby Signs
Favorite food: anything and everything, there is nothing she dislikes
Favorite activities: going for walks, being outside, ripping up junk mail, drinking her bottles, and playing with her toys.

Wakes at: 8:00am

We had a Happy Easter.

We colored eggs, and for some reason I wanted to look like a rabbit in this picture? Mama B in the background making her amazing cinnamon rolls.












We had a great afternoon at the park. We had Easter dinner picnic style. It was perfect.






This little cutie loved sucking on the egg she found.

She also is obsessed with pulling her bows out and eating them now.

I love experiencing things with Kate for the first time. Suddenly Easter Egg Hunts are so fun again!

Easter

Elder Holland's talk last weekend about the Atonement gave me such a deeper understanding and different perspective of Christ's sacrifice for us. I am excited to spend this weekend with my thoughts and actions celebrating His sacrifice for me.

Some of my favorite parts:

"It was required; indeed it was central to the significance of the Atonement, that this perfect Son who had never spoken ill nor done wrong nor touched an unclean thing had to know how the rest of humankind—us, all of us—would feel when we did commit such sins. For His Atonement to be infinite and eternal, He had to feel what it was like to die not only physically but spiritually, to sense what it was like to have the divine Spirit withdraw, leaving one feeling totally, abjectly, hopelessly alone.

But Jesus held on. He pressed on. The goodness in Him allowed faith to triumph even in a state of complete anguish. The trust He lived by told Him in spite of His feelings that divine compassion is never absent, that God is always faithful, that He never flees nor fails us. When the uttermost farthing had then been paid, when Christ’s determination to be faithful was as obvious as it was utterly invincible, finally and mercifully, it was “finished.”18 Against all odds and with none to help or uphold Him, Jesus of Nazareth, the living Son of the living God, restored physical life where death had held sway and brought joyful, spiritual redemption out of sin, hellish darkness and despair. With faith in the God He knew was there, He could say in triumph, “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.”

As we approach this holy week—Passover Thursday with its Paschal Lamb, atoning Friday with its cross, Resurrection Sunday with its empty tomb—may we declare ourselves to be more fully disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, not in word only and not only in the flush of comfortable times but in deed and in courage and in faith, including when the path is lonely and when our cross is difficult to bear. This Easter week and always, may we stand by Jesus Christ “at all times and in all things, and in all places that [we] may be in, even until death,” for surely that is how He stood by us when it was unto death and when He had to stand entirely and utterly alone."

I challenge everyone to read, or re-read this amazing insight as part of your Easter celebration.

People, people! Oh how I love April Fools'. I will not leave the beach. You are right, Ashley. But, I wish I COULD  make myself leave the beach, so I could live in that beautiful home. But then I think about how it is snowing there, and then I don't care if I have 5 bedrooms. 

But the tiny one is cute though, huh? I want it bad. I have already decorated that whole house in my head. Keep your fingers crossed that we can get our ducks in a row before it sells! 

This morning I put orange food coloring in the milk and poured my brother a nice cup of "OJ". It was great. 

But then someone, who has yet to fess up, unhooked our DVR cable, and Lost did not get recorded. 

Someone is going to pay big time for that. April Fools' Day or not. They should be thanking their luck stars that it wasn't Thursday today. Thursday=Grey's/Private Practice.
