Another Rainy Day

Even before I lift her out of her crib each morning, she asks me two questions.
The first question it always, "Where is Daddy?"
And the second is, "Is it a sunny day, Mom?"
Then she runs to look out the window, checking out the weather.

Kate's Happenings

Date Week

We spent an evening under the stairs with our favorite man named Jack.
He serenaded us all night long.
Baby was kicking like crazy through out the whole concert. Maybe it was the pot being smoked in front of us? I'd like to think she just loves her some Jack Johnson like her parents.
We spent many late nights this week together signing papers, and discussing very adult things like mortgages, interest rates, etc....
By the time Saturday night hit, it was nice to act a little immature for a few hours at a Halloween Party.

Matt/rain are to blame for me being of focus. I am Juno.
My very own Paulie Bleeker. Check out those thighs..not too closely though. I wouldn't click to enlarge.

Thursday Thoughts...

I am officially in my third trimester. Where did the second go? I am feeling pretty good these days. Just starting to get a little uncomfortable at night when she is kicking me in the ribs and bladder. She loves candy, chocolate, and Jack Johnson...like me! I have been craving cinnamon rolls still, hot chocolate, anything pumpkin and Diet Coke. I have my glucose test tomorrow...!

Kate had playgroup this morning. We didn't take up until 9:20, but showered, got dressed and made it happen. I dropped her off, made a stop at Starbucks for a hot chocolate, and then sat in Borders for an hour and a half! WHAT?!?! Haven't done that...ever. Got caught up on the latest celeb gossip, and read the first chapters in some books I have been meaning to buy. It was so relaxing. Oh...and I stopped at the beauty store for this:
I like it! I am allergic to my wedding ring, and have been missing the bling.

Other news?
*I still am having a heck of a time with my infected ear. BLAH! I just finished my Z-Pack, but still feel like I have a sinus infection.
*Our condo is in escrow, and we found a new home! We are in escrow for that one as well. I am not letting myself get too excited yet. There are few hurdles we have to leap over before I feel like I can celebrate.
*I have a couple of dates left on the calendar this fall for family photos if you are interested! I am really excited about all the fun shoots coming up!
*I am baking fresh bread right now, and it smells AMAZING.
*Matt took me to the Jack Johnson concert this week, and it was sooo great.

Over and out.

I sat in the shade today, on a quilt made by my great grandmother. I watched my daughter running and playing, her shiny golden brown hair swinging with each eager step she took. She didn't need me today at the park. What had changed in a weeks time? She climbed to the top of the play structure by herself. She played nicely with the other kids there. She even pulled herself onto the swing alone. "Watch me Mom! I did it me self!"

I felt time, like it was tangible in the moment. It was moving so fast I could barely wrap my heart around it before it was gone.

Why is it so emotional to see a child grow? She is no longer a baby. I have been ignoring the little signs for so long. But today, as I sat watching my baby swinging herself, I saw it. It is hard to see through the cloud of denial. But, for a brief moment today it cleared.

She is turning into such a cute, smart, and mature little girl. I realize, yes, that she will always be my baby. But in those moments now that she says, "I need you Mama. Hold you" I am going to grasp onto that time like my life depends on it, and let it soak in.

I am learning how greedy Time can be.

Our Rainy Morning

Potty Surprise

This was her toy of choice for when she had no accidents, and could finally go #2 on the potty. If I would have known, the #2 would only happen that one day, just for this toy, I might have made her work a little longer for it.
But, every time she saw it, she would exclaim, "Oh me gosh!!! Oh me gosh!"
And really, I was looking for any excuse to give it to her.

She went straight to her room to find our vintage copy of Sleeping Beauty to look at.
She calls her "Swooping Booty"...

Right this minute...

I hear my husband reading Dr. Suess to my two year old in the next room. She requested story time to be on "Mommy's bed!" He has already been reading for about 20 minutes, and somehow she keeps talking him into one story after another.
And I am sitting here counting two things.
My blessings, and new little daughter's crazy kicks. I love my little life.

The Nakey Chef

Once she finished her job of brushing the pizza dough with Olive Oil, she decided to try out a new recipe.
Main ingredient was goat cheese.
She swiped a few lemon slices, and an apple slice too. You can never have too much cheese. She added some mozzarella, parmesan, and feta.
Her secret ingredient? Italian seasoning. Lots of it!She loved her creation, and lucky for me, her Dad walked in the door just in time to get me out of being the taste tester. He was a good sport and ate one of those deliciously coated apples!
Watch out, we have a little chef on our hands!

Please note the apron I made her! And certainly, her cute bare bottom!

Hello.

This is me at 27 weeks. This baby is a wild one!
This face because it is raining today. My feet are cold, and Kate told me she "Can't like your earrings Mama". Also, I feel like I am wearing football pads. Matt informed me that the places I feel like I am wearing football pads...are in fact, not places football pads are worn. It's all in the name of a chubby baby...
Other news?
Still looking for a new home. We have made two offers, and waiting to hear back...
Kate is peepee potty trained. But struggling with the other kind.
The cool weather is kinda nice being pregnant and wearing football pads 24/7.
We are going camping this month. Why did we chose to go for our first time being 7.5 months pregnant? Easy answer...we planned it 7 months ago.
We are happy, healthy, and in love.
