i remember.

Today is September 11th, 2009. It was 8 years ago today, that I was running late in my yellow diesel Mercedes, to early morning seminary, listening to Rick Dees on KIIS FM. I was carefree, probably looking forward to seeing the cute water polo boy in AP Art History later that day. I was passing the Carrow's when the news broke. I remember thinking it was some kinda of joke. I didn't realize at the moment that this was a huge day in history. A tragic day in history. A day that would change the course of this country, this world, forever.

I called my parents, woke them up, and told them to turn on the news. Once at school, I sat in my car, in the Junior Lot, and listened as the events unfolded and as it all started to sink in. I remember walking into school and thinking it was odd that this horrible thing had happen, and most of these people I was passing had no idea yet.

My Chemistry teacher, probably unaware of what had happened, refused to turn on the TV. In the next period, Art History, I walked into a room full of silent students, eyes fixed on CNN. I couldn't believe my eyes.
We sat quietly for two hours, watching our world change, watching replays of planes crashing over and over again, watching buildings burn, and then collapse. Watching people run in that raining ash. Watching tears make clean trails down the cheeks of terrified people. Watching as I was thinking about all those people stuck inside. All of those loses. All those families.

There is something about a tragedy that makes your memory hang on to all of the details, all of the emotion. I know I will never forget that day.

Dear Summer,

Never leave. I love playing in your warm rays, slashing in your cool pools, and hanging out with cute boys.

(Me and my favorite pool buddy, Aven.)

Love,
Kate

Time to update lazy style.

Ani- picking out paint color, selling and buying furniture, snuggling with my baby, busy behind the camera, wrapping up my calling in the Branch, sewing, crafting a tiny bit, soaking up summer, trying some new recipes, folding laundry, decorating for a baby shower, meeting up with old friends, dreaming of my big new closet, and counting down the days when we will have our own home.

Matt- super busy working, just moved to a huge new office in Irvine, selling his toys (motorized scooter, laptop) and buying boring things like a BBQ, fridge, and toilets. Continues to be the best dad and hubby around. Makes Kate laugh like there is no tomorrow. Getting in some surfing and driving range when he can. Handling all the home loan shiz that I like to say uninvolved in.

Kate- her personality is just getting way to funny. She is staying busy exploring the house, opening drawers and cabinets, and ALWAYS making sure they are closed, and sometimes shutting her little chubby fingers in them sometimes, reading her books and watching her Signing Time videos, carrying sand buckets around like a purse in the crook of her elbow, giving away kisses, loving the nursery at church a little early, playing hard all day, lunches with Dad, play dates, and napping every afternoon away.

MISC- Our little place should close on MONDAY! Keeping our fingers crossed.
We had a fun date for our anniversary, celebrated my sisters bday, attended two families temple sealings, and did their photography, baby showers, had a blast on labor day, and I am going to try to post so I can catch up before we the craziness of moving begins. I am still reading all of our blogs, and I will try to comment more often!

happy.

Oh this little girl just melts my heart. She has been saying mama and dada, ball, ut-oh, etc. for awhile now. But on Sunday, the real words were flying. She woke up saying "happy"! Then she said, "bubble", then "cold", and "cookie"! It was so funny! She also answers "no", to every question she is asked. She walks around all day saying "happy, happy, happy", it is her favorite word. I love love love it.

Lady of Luxury

She is all about her comfort items these days. She has to have her mama, her blanket, and binky by her at all times, or she goes, "Eh eh eh eh eh", until she gets them.

All in 25 seconds...

Both Carter and Addison sneak attack Kate. Carter is brave and plays it cool. Doesn't even need to look at his target. Addison's secret weapon: sand.
Please click to enlarge. Kate is definitely not to thrilled. Carter gives the "What me?! Not this cute, little, innocent face!" look.
Kate decides to book it out of there, but not before Carter takes back control of the situation and pulls her, by the hood, back in place.
Carter, looking at Danielle, "Did you see that move Mom?!" And Kate, "I can't believe you did that."
Kate, looking at me, "Welllll, did you see that? What you are you going to do about it?!"
Besides take pictures you mean?

Taylor News

Home news:
The bank is STILL in the process of re-doing the entire place. We were suppose to close on Aug 14th. And then they said it was going to be another 3 weeks. I am DYING!!
A few weeks ago,we went to our future home and found that we now have walls...

And this week, the walls are painted super duper WHITE! (We will be repainting before we move in!)
Kate news:
She is getting into everything, and hiding!!!
After frantically looking everywhere...I saw this out of the corner of my eye.
Here is the naughty girl!
Kate had her 15 month check up. We were instructed to water down her milk! To her defense, and mine I guess, she has not gained an ounce since she started walking!...but Doctor's orders.

Summer News:
I feel it slipping from my fingers. No!
I have been trying to live it up while it is still hot.

Mattie and I at the beach for a bonfire. (Photo taken by my 6 year old nephew!)
Scary.
You know those hours between when your kid/s wake up from nap, and when Daddy comes home from work. Too long. So we hit up the beach. It was so nice, and uncrowded at 5! Highly recommend it.

Splash Pad with the cousins! Addie 3, Kate, 1. Already good buddies!
And again, just the two of us.
This family loves summer.
But, you already knew that.

15 months!

This girl is a drama mama! She is very emotional (already!) and needs all my attention.
She is mostly happy, but sometimes decides to have a grumpy day. Don't we all need those sometimes?
(This morning, wearing a onesie, Grandpa's medal, and carrying around mama's bikini top! Oh, and miffed cuz I won't pick her up.)

She is starting to get very "clingy" to me, which I completely adore. I love when she burrows into my neck when she is acting shy.
She is as smart as a whip, I am tellin' ya. She picks things up quick. She is going to keep us busy!
Before bed, we chase her around, acting like a lion or bear, growling as she runs giggling from us. This morning, I heard her make a growling sound, and I went to investigate; she was chasing her little friend around a chair, growling!
(Running away from a scary bear, favorite blanket in hand.)

She signs: mama, dada, milk, more, all done, dog, duck, bird, cow, horse, rabbit, sheep, squirrel, play, apple, eat, etc. The list goes on.
She loves animals, and can mimic a cow (mmmmmmm), a dog (panting), a monkey, an owl, and she is totally obsessed with ducks, and goes crazy signing "duck" when she sees one.
Her favorite thing to play with right now are her books, ("The Wheels on the Bus") and her letter and animal flash cards. I promise she has more age appropriate toys, but always brings us the books and flash cards.
She loves nap, and bed time, as long as we are there to say goodnight to her.
If she sees someone folding their arms, or hears the word "prayer", she folder her short little arms, and bows her head. Melts me every time.
(Being grumpy in the morning. "I 'heart' Daddy" PJs. Lips pouted. Won't even look at me!)

She is a dancing maniac! Her favorite song right now is "I Gotta Feeling". We made a music video a few weeks ago with that song. Maybe I'll post it...I also discovered she thinks the song "Who Let the Dogs Out", is hilarious! Or maybe it was my dance moves?
She is getting picky about her food! Grilled cheese? No, thanks. Mac-n-Cheese? Gross. She acts like I just gave her dirt for dinner. Actually, she will eat dirt...(She decided she liked pasta for one meal only. Always rubs her dinner in her hair! Only has three bottom teeth.)

Kate is completely obsessed with her little blanket and has to carry it around everywhere. She has started holding it to her nose, smelling it constantly. I totally did this with my "Didi" and I am secretly happy she does it too!
She just got her first, good goose egg on her little forehead. Bruised and everything. So sad.
Loves new clothes, and shoes. She totally knows when something is new and will point and keep looking down at her new outfit. A true girl.
7 teeth.
In love with her Dada. And follows her mama around all day begging to be held.
Sure love my little lover.

I have had zero desire to blog these days. Could you tell? Lo siento. I am feeling the pressure since I know you have to actually click (so much work!) on my blog to see if there is an update.
Well...
Kate is super fun, and getting way too big.
Still haven't moved into our new place.
Trying to soak up as much summer as possible.
In the past 2 weeks I have read, "My Sisters Keeper", "The Time Travelers Wife", and "The Hunger Games". Loved them all.
Matt and I went on a hot date on Friday night. So in love with that guy.
Haven't watched TV in forever. (Can't wait till all the shows start again!)
Kate sleeps in until 9 or 9:30 now. I super love her.
That is all for now.
XO,
Mrs. T.

Big Bear

We had such a fun and relaxing weekend with the Scott and Jenni in Big Bear! Beware of many pictures.

Kate trying on Jenni's cute Betsey Johnson sunglasses
She did not like these as much. I don't blame her!
Practicing holding the flag...
for Matt!
Attempt at getting us all in..2 outta 3.
She was super snuggly. I think she couldn't move very well with the life jacket, and felt safe in my lap.

I ate up every second of it! I love when she does this!
Taylor Family of three!
Matt relaxin' with some pita chips and the x-games.
We got locked out, so Matt and Scottie saved the day!
Alpine slides were super fun!

I just want to eat those legs. She toddled around all weekend.

Thanks for the fun trip guys! Next weekend?!
