I have not lost one pound since Kate was 3 weeks old.
Today we cashed in on our El Pollo Loco scratchers. You can only get one free thing per visit, so we have been there 3 times already today. Planning on a late night free churro and small drink run tonight. (maybe that is why I have not lost any weight.)
Kate woke up at 7 to be fed and then slept until 11 am this morning. Love her.
I popped a blood vessel in my finger playing frisbee at the beach.
While waiting for the tub to fill up I laid down all the way flat and something strange came out of the faucet, I TRIED to sit up really fast but the small of my back was SUCTIONED to the bottom of the tub! It freaked me out and I pulled against the suctions which made it worse. After a few seconds of panic I painfully pulled myself free. My back is now bruised and very sore. (I know, strangest thing huh?)
I got fried at the beach this week and I am really happy about it.
I tried sewing this week. I finally got the machine threaded and the bobbin thingy filled after 30 minutes on the phone with my sister and then with my mom. I cut the fabric out wrong. I was trying to make PJ bottoms and I cut out two right fronts and two right backs. Yup, doesn't work.
I think "the thrush" is coming back. Yikes.
I want Breaking Dawn, but totally forgot until now that is came out today.
Matt called to cancel our cable when we move and the man thought we wanted it done on the 1st. So no TV all weekend and for the next 2 weeks. I am kinda excited.
We got a pazookie tonight and it was amazing.

Some where asking... so here ya go.
I tried to put the link to the vaccination schedule we chose to follow for Kate, but couldn't find it anywhere online. I found it in a Parenting Magazine. I scanned it for anyone interested. After majoring in Special Education, student teaching in a classroom with mostly children with Autism, speaking with different parents (of students), and my own research, we have decided this is the best thing for our family. I know it is important for children to receive most of the recommended vaccinations, but it is not necessary for them to receive them according to the schedule most doctors follow.
You will have to click to enlarge enough to read it. If you can't read something, let me know.
Ps. Kate's doctor does not give Rotavirus, so we just did DTaP this time.

Dear Jenna and Karissa

I know summer has brought some boredom for you two. Download Snood.
Maybe this will help you burn a few hours.

A scary day
This morning I put Kate down and decided my appearance needed some attention. I had just finished painting my toes (bright pink) and was working on my nails when the earthquake hit. Unfortunately I was planning on getting into the shower right after and had already stripped down. Oopies Dasies! Everyone's worst nightmare. Somehow I was semi-dressed and had Kate in my arms and running down our 3 flights of stairs in about 30 seconds. Impressed? And I didn't even get nail polish on anything! I called Matt and told him he had to come home and then the phone died. My Knight in Shining Armor arrived 5 minutes later to calm us down! Something about living on the 3rd floor and having a tiny baby really made me upset this time. But, all is well. I am keeping my shoes close and my clothes on tonight!!!
Since I made Kate's 2 month appointment a month ago, I have been dreading July 29th to arrive. I felt a little comforted knowing we would refuse the 5 recommended shots and opt to follow Dr. Bob's Vaccination Schedule and only get one this visit. Phew! But I was still not looking foward to watching my baby get pricked and cry. Matt came with me for moral support. Turns out I was the biggest baby in the room. Her new pediatrician (who was mine as well) put sugar on her binky to distract her it did the trick. She let out the smallest whimper and that was it!

Buen fin de semana
On Friday we found out our friend's baby they are adopting was going to be born, so we watched their girls so they could get on the road to see their baby! So exciting!
Saturday morning Matt and Kate went on a walk while I got to sleep in! I think this might need to be a tradition! Then we went to the pool. We took Kate in the water for the first time! I think she liked it! It was a tinsy bit cold, but she didn't cry.
Then we had a fiesta with our Spanish Branch. It was really fun! We rented The Kite Runner Saturday night (I love Red Box). It was really good, but of course the book was better. It is one of those movies you don't want to watch twice because it is sad and disturbing, but I think it is good to remind ourselves what is going on in our world, even if it is not pleasant. We talked after it was over about how lucky we are to live in this country and have the freedom that we take for granted. I think having a child totally changes how you view the world and make me so much more aware of the evils that we need to protect our children from.
Sunday we went to church. I am in Young Womens again and love it! I am so excited. We ended the weekend at my parents for a yummy dinner and some ping pong. I am not going to lie, I am pretty good. (but my Mom and Matt are better.)
*Funny how this blog not longer has pictures of Matt and I. Only baby. She is the one you guys want to see anyway!

can't get enough
there are not enough hours in the day to spend with this cute girl. we have been putting her down at 9 and she is sleeping 10 hours, which is great, but we miss her! she is such a happy baby and so much fun. she is smiling tons, and yesterday morning we heard her laugh for the first time. i know now what it feels like to have your heart "melt"! she is obsessed with her left hand and constantly is trying to eat it! she started to really suck her thumb, which i think is so cute (i know it is bad for the teeth eventually, but i was a thumb sucker and I turned out ok). she also sticks her cute little pink tongue out a lot. it is so funny. we sure love our little missy girl. we can't get enough of her.getting ready to be swaddled. she did this with her hands on her own. so funny.

Quantum Leap
In elementary school I would I would fake sick (Hi Mom!) to stay home. Let's be honest, who didn't? I was like reallly good at faking it though. I took faking it to a whole new level. (At least I thought I was then.) I actually set my alarm for like 4am, and went into my parent's room to tell them I wasn't feeling well. Then I would wait until morning and either they would let me keep sleeping, that was the best, or I would tell them I still didn't fell well. I also put the thermometer by the light bulb to heat it up, the funny thing was it was probably like 160 degrees, but I thought it was pretty smart. I also once put carmex in my eyes to make them look red. Not only did they look red, they were RED and HURT SO BAD (but that only helped my act). I remember watching the clock and if they were like 3 minutes late waking me up I started to get really excited, and would start planning out my luxurious day in my head.
I would sleep in, and then I would go set up on the couch. I, of course, set up camp in the corner of the sectional, best part of the couch, and made sure I had snacks, the remote, my blanket, and probably some Polly Pockets, and most definitely my bear Frizzle (how he got his name is a whole other story that I will tell someday, just think fuzzy white stuffed animal, and fire).
I had my whole list of shows to watch that were only on during school. My favorite was Quantum Leap. I just saw it on TV! If you have never seen it, you are missing out. Sam, leaps into a variety of people, helps them fix a problem, and then at the end of every show he leaps into another person, and gives the teaser for the next episode. So of course I would fake sick just one more day to see what adventure Sam was for into this time!
ps. Thanks for letting me stay home Mom. Those grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup were amazing. I promise I never sneaked and watched MTV or Days of our Lives when you weren't looking.

Memory Lane!
This is fun!
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Today I have....
Fed baby, and changed baby, rocked baby back to sleep.
Changed baby, fed baby, played with baby, changed baby, ran out of diapers, run to store to buy diapers.
Changed baby, fed baby, played with baby.
I only got a half smile once.
Today Matt has....
Come home for lunch.
And he gets this:
too cute.
(and unfair)

Somebody has a crush!
My old neighbor Maria and I were due on the same day! (Along with two other girls-all the same day...strange, I know. Don't drink the water here.) We ended up delivering a little early and only one day apart! So funny. Yesterday cute little Luke and Kate met for the first time. You can tell from the picture that he was memorized by her. It was so funny! He didn't let go of her arm and he just stared and stared and kept smiling and cooing at her!

Why today has been awesome...
One:
First time at the Spanish Branch
A complete stranger asked to hold Kate
I let that complete stranger hold her
That complete stranger got up with my baby and walked out of RS for 5 minutes
I let her
Two:
I felt stupid for 3 straight hours and my face hurts front trying to make it look like I understood what was happening. Faking it is hard. Next week I'll wear the headphones. I thought if I didn't wear them, that I could trick people into thinking I know Spanish. Face it, once those suckers go on yours head, you are surrendering.
Three:
Kate had on the cutest hot bright pink Ralph Lauren dress (Thanks Autumn!), a big white bow, and a pearl bracelet for church.
I was just laying on the couch with her and telling Matt how cute she is and we needed to take a picture when I saw something dark on the ruffle of her skirt. I proceed to investigate and stick my hand in POOP!
Yell for Matt, Matt comes to the rescue and picks her up. I discover the couch is covered in pee. My arm is somehow all wet as well. And in trying to get up off the couch, I got 3, yes 3 cushions compromised.
I have poop in my hair, pee on my arm, the couch stripped (I love microfiber) and the washer running.
We still have 5 more hours of this day left. I can't wait to see what it brings!

4th of July
Yesterday was my favorite holiday! What is not to love about BBQs, watermelon, cute babies in red, white and blue, water balloon tosses, beach(pool this year), and amazing fireworks?!
(Beware of many pictures. Hey-I am officially a mom now...several pictures of my baby are mandatory.)
Half smile! Laying out makes her happy. Like mother, like daughter.Kate and cousin Carter laying out together.
Yummy dinner at my parents.
Cute Addie Goose eating her cupcake
Handsome man T chowing down.
The three of us
Need I say more? Love it.
Cute babies!
Finally....
She slept in here during the whole show!
We met up with the cousins and aunts and uncles at the park for the firework show. It was unreal this year!
Can't wait till next year! Hopefully Little Miss will be awake and will like them!

The After Party
Since the beach was crowded and foggy yesterday, we went today with Mike, Megan, and some of Megan's family. It was such a perfect beach day. Matt made it even more perfect by taking care of Kate the whole time while I laid out and went for a swim!
These two are buds.
